Why are you Free?

On this Memorial Day Weekend…

  • these three days of school breaks, and pool openings, and neighborhood BBQ’s
  • this extended entrance into Summer
  • this liberty to set aside our daily grind in order to celebrate and remember that freedom is NOT free

I ask you one question:

Why are you free?

Are you free to do as you please? Are you free to grab life by the horns and take it for the wildest ride?  Are you free to make the most money, collect the most toys, gain the most popularity?

Or. Is it? Could it be that…

Memorial Day4

It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free.  The pursuit of liberty. The fight for freedom.  The struggle against slavery, sin, and servitude of all kinds, on all fronts, for all people.

Won’t you consider {on this day to honor our heroes past and present}, won’t you consider your call as a Christian to join the fight, raise the battle flag, and take your position in the fight for freedom?

Memorial Day3

Where will you stand?

You could park it on the sidelines, waving your Stars & Stripes from the curb, applauding the wounded warriors who parade past the Post Office on Main Street.

Or you could lead the charge. Ring Freedom’s bell.  Announce her arrival within the village gates of the poor, upon the doorpost of the brokenhearted, or through the darkest passageways of prison cells.

Memorial Day2

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  And the day will come when all who mourn and all who grieve will receive the crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair {Isaiah 61}.

Won’t you be there? Won’t you participate?

Crossing Jordan is on the cusp of opening so many, many doors to you, in this fight for freedom around the world. So many, many ways to become a difference maker, a freedom fighter, a bondage breaker, just by making something beautiful in your own home.Together, and through an future online collaborative effort called Beauty for Ashes, we can {and already have started to!} take the remnants of our abundant American life and craft direct funding for the Lord’s true Liberation Army – the men and women on the front lines of organizations like:

Won’t you pray with me as I lay down the Beauty for Ashes fleece before God and watch His plans unfold?  This effort to unite the crafters and artisans of America in the fight for freedom will take many things: finances, business savvy, non-profit status, operational mangers, marketing mavens, project designers, artisans, suppliers, hostesses and fund-raisers, and not least of all – prayers. Your prayers and mine alike.

Won’t you pray with me?

Dear Jesus,

We lay down the fleece.  Your plans are and have been set before time even began. You knew the times we would live in and the battles we would be asked to face. Help us merely to follow You – Your voice, Your calling, Your plans.  We need more than desire to achieve this vision, Lord.  We need Your people to follow Galatians 5:13 – to use their freedom to serve one another in love. To finance this effort, to provide sage business advice, to offer an umbrella 501c.3 status, to volunteer their time and talents for the cause for such a time as this. May Your will be done, Lord. Amen.

Why, dear Christian friend, are you free?
